The most effective robot hoover will vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as a dirt detectors) are both positives.

1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it clean quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a great deal for those whose office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and provide better cleaning. You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones with the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
It is possible to instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they tend to be.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance.
